A catamaran needs support under each hull, set to the exact spacing and deadrise of that boat. A stock trailer can't do that. We build custom aluminum catamaran trailers for power cats and sailing cats, and wide-beam builds are our specialty.
Built to your hull spacing
Every catamaran is measured hull by hull. We set the bunks to the distance between your hull centers and to each hull's deadrise, and add center guides so the boat lands in the same place every time you load. For pontoons and catamarans, our build sheet has dedicated bunk spacing and center guide measurements, so we get it right without seeing the boat.
Weight, width and towing
Power cats are heavy for their length. We rate the trailer at the loaded weight (engines, fuel and gear) plus a safety margin, often on tandem or triple axles with disc brakes on every axle. Wide-beam boats can exceed legal towing width; we'll tell you up front if your boat needs a wide-load permit.
Catamaran owners we've built for include owners of World Cat, SeaKing, Aquila and ACI catamarans, plus Hawaiian-built boats.
What goes into every ABTrailers build
- Aluminum I-beam frame sized to the load, from 7.5 in to 10 in, so the frame never rusts.
- Galvanized torsion axles with removable, replaceable trailing arms, rated to the boat's loaded weight plus a safety margin.
- Marine disc brakes with aluminum calipers and stainless steel pistons, surge or electric over hydraulic, plus Synflex non-corrosive brake lines.
- Carpeted bunks (2x6 up to 4x10) set to your hull's deadrise, on aluminum uprights and cross members.
- Stainless steel fastener package and sealed LED lighting.
- 3-year standard warranty and our corrosion-free guarantee: a custom aluminum trailer is built to last at least three times as long as a painted or galvanized steel trailer.
How a remote custom build works
- Tell us about the boat. Year, make and model, length, beam, deadrise and loaded weight (fuel, engines and gear). Our online quote builder walks you through it.
- Send a few measurements. If you have a trailer now, a handful of measurements from it (bow eye to tires, coupler size, tongue length) tell us how the boat sits. No trailer? Your boat's specs are enough to start.
- We design the trailer to the hull. We choose the weight rating, frame, axles and brakes, and set the bunks to your hull's shape, then send a written quote.
- We build it in San Bernardino. Pick it up at our shop, or we arrange delivery and freight, including crating and ocean shipping to Hawaii and Guam.
Your boat never has to come to our shop.
Questions owners ask
Can you build a trailer for a wide-beam power catamaran?
Yes. Wide-beam power cats are a specialty. If the boat is wider than legal towing width (8 ft 6 in), we'll flag it in your quote so you can plan for a wide-load permit.
What measurements do you need for a catamaran trailer?
Your boat's make, model, length, beam and loaded weight, plus hull spacing and deadrise. If you have a trailer now, our build sheet shows which bunk spacing and center guide measurements to take.
Do you build sailing catamaran trailers?
Yes, along with mast supports for safe transport.
Can you ship a catamaran trailer to Hawaii?
Yes. We crate and ship trailers to Hawaii and Guam.
